It has been seen that employees who can consciously work for hours without taking breaks often suffer from stress and demotivation. Just a couple of minutes of mindfulness is all it takes to muster that feeling of calm. Take a couple of minutes of break noticing your thoughts and feelings, whether they are good or bad, and acknowledge that you will not feel this way forever because that’s just the way things are.
- Focus on your breath: A simple breathing exercise can have a deep impact on your state of mind and it’s one of the most inconspicuous ways to practice mindfulness at work. Whenever you start feeling stressed, take a minute to focus on inhalation and exhalation, and you will start feeling relaxed.
- Practice gratitude: Everyone has bad days at work. One should use those as an opportunity for mindfulness. Next time you feel low at work, try a gratitude meditation, and write down one or two things you like about your job.
- Work-life Balance: Maintaining a work-life balance is very important to keep one’s sanity intact. The present year has taught us a lot of things. Some of these learnings are the importance and value of life and family, understanding the daily challenges of our family members, and how impactful work-life balance is on our lives. Therefore, one should focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance and work on not to let the work consume your life. Things will continue to happen, with or without you. Play your part but do not overdo it.
